Hakuba Cortina Ski Resort

Hakuba Cortina is the northern most resort in the Hakuba Valley. The base area (Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba) sits at 870 meters above sea level, while the top-most lift climbs to 1,400meters above sea level. 530meters of vertical may not sound like much, but with almost the whole area within the resort boundaries able to be accessed, there is plenty of terrain to keep everybody happy.
Tree Skiing
Hakuba Cortina is one of the few places in the Hakuba Valley with a liberal tree skiing policy. The basic policy is that you enter at your own risk, and any rescue that is off-piste will be charged to the rescued party.
The light blue areas on the map below are "self responsibility" areas, while the red areas are strictly out of bounds, and your lift pass will be confiscated if you are caught in these areas.
There are also 3 back country access gates at Cortina. People enter these areas at their own risk and Cortina does not offer rescue services to those who leave the ski resort boundaries. Full back country equipment, and experienced, qualified guides are strongly recommended.
